Mobile mechanic services
Everything below is done where your car already is: your driveway, your work car park, or the side of the road. No tow, no drop-off, no three-day wait for a workshop slot.
Punctures and tyre changes, wherever you have stopped
This is the call we get most. You have picked up a nail on the A4, the spare is a space-saver you do not trust, or there is no spare at all because the manufacturer gave you a can of foam instead.
- Puncture repairs where the damage is safely repairable
- Roadside wheel changes and spare fitting
- Supply and fit of new tyres to suit your budget
- Locking wheel nut removal when the key is lost
- Pressure and tread checks across all four corners
Turn the key, nothing happens
A dead battery is the second most common reason we get called out, and it almost always happens at the worst possible moment: a cold morning, a supermarket car park, the school run.
- Battery health and cranking test before anything is replaced
- Jump start to get you moving where that is all you need
- Supply and fit of the correct battery for your vehicle
- Alternator and charging system check
- Old battery taken away and recycled properly
That hum that gets louder the faster you go
Wheel bearings fail gradually, which is exactly why people ignore them. The noise creeps up over months until it is a drone you can hear over the radio. Left long enough, a failed bearing chews through the hub, ruins the tyre and can seize a wheel outright.
Signs yours is going
- A humming or growling that changes pitch with road speed, not engine speed
- Noise that gets louder when you steer one way and quieter the other
- Uneven or scalloped wear on one tyre
- A vibration through the steering wheel or floor
- Any play when the wheel is rocked at 12 and 6 oclock
What we do about it
We replace front and rear bearings and hub assemblies on site where the design allows it. Some pressed-in bearings need a workshop press. If yours is one of those, we will tell you before you are charged for a callout.
Blowing, rattling or dragging on the floor
Exhausts rot from the inside out, and British winters plus road salt accelerate it. A blowing exhaust is loud, it fails an MOT, it can push fumes towards the cabin, and it makes the engine run less efficiently.
- Blowing joints, split sections and corroded pipework
- Broken hangers, rubbers and mounting brackets
- Back box and mid-section replacement
- Heat shield rattles, the cheap fix people pay far too much for
- Full system inspection to find where it is actually leaking
Knocks, clunks and a car that crashes over potholes
Worn suspension does not just make the ride unpleasant. It lengthens your braking distance, wears tyres unevenly and will fail an MOT. Most people put up with it far longer than they should because it degrades so slowly.
What we replace on site
- Shock absorbers and struts
- Coil springs, including snapped ones
- Anti-roll bar drop links, the usual culprit behind a knock over speed bumps
- Top mounts and bearings
- Track rod ends and worn bushes
Worth knowing
Replacing springs or struts changes your geometry, so you will want a tracking check afterwards. We will tell you when that applies rather than leaving you to find out through a set of ruined tyres.
Find the problem before it strands you
A proper look over the whole car, done on your driveway while you get on with your day. Ideal before a long trip, before an MOT, or before you hand over cash for a used car you have never driven.
- Brakes: pad thickness, disc condition, fluid
- Tyres: tread depth, pressure, uneven wear and age
- Battery and charging system
- Suspension and steering play
- All fluid levels and visible leaks
- Lights, wipers, and a diagnostic scan for stored fault codes
What we cannot do at the roadside
Plenty of mobile mechanics will take the callout fee and work it out when they get there. We would rather save you the money and the wasted afternoon, so here is where the line honestly sits.
Needs a workshop
- Engine rebuilds and head gasket work
- Gearbox and clutch replacement
- Cambelts on tightly packed engine bays
- Anything requiring a four-post ramp or a press
- Air conditioning regas and welding work
Describe the symptoms on the phone and we will tell you straight which side of that line you are on, and point you somewhere sensible if it is not us.
Not sure which one you need?
Describe the noise, the warning light or what the car is doing. We will work it out with you on the phone.
