Mobile tyre repair and fitting
Picked up a puncture? We come to you with the tools, the jack and the tyre. On your driveway, in a work car park, or wherever you have managed to pull over safely.
The most common call we get, and usually the quickest fix
Modern cars have made punctures worse, not better. Manufacturers stopped fitting full-size spares to save weight, so most drivers now have a space-saver they do not trust, a tin of sealant that only works on small tread punctures, or nothing at all.
That leaves you stuck on the hard shoulder of the M4 or in a supermarket car park with a flat and no way of dealing with it. We turn up with proper equipment and sort it there and then.
- Puncture repairs where the damage is safely and legally repairable
- Roadside wheel changes and spare wheel fitting
- Supply and fit of new tyres: budget, mid-range or premium
- Locking wheel nut removal when the key is lost or rounded
- Pressure, tread depth and condition checks on all four corners
- Correct torque settings on refitting, not just tight enough
When a puncture can be repaired
There are proper rules about this, set out in British Standard BS AU 159. A repair is only permitted in the central three-quarters of the tread, and only where the damage is below a certain size. Outside that zone, the tyre must be replaced.
Always needs a new tyre
- Any damage to the sidewall or shoulder
- Cuts, bulges or splits in the rubber
- Tread below the 1.6mm legal minimum
- A tyre that has been driven on while flat
- Damage larger than 6mm, or several repairs already fitted
Signs you need tyres soon
Most tyre failures give plenty of warning if you know what to look at. A two-minute check in your own driveway can save you a callout on a wet Tuesday night.
Worth checking now
- Tread worn to the wear indicator bars in the grooves
- Wear on one edge only, usually a tracking or suspension fault
- Cracking or crazing in the sidewall rubber, common on older tyres
- A tyre that keeps losing pressure over a week or two
- Vibration through the steering at motorway speed
- Tyres over about ten years old, whatever the tread looks like
Flat tyre right now?
Tell us your location and the tyre size from the sidewall, and we will bring what you need.
What people ask us
It is moulded into the sidewall, something like 205/55 R16 91V. That is the width in millimetres, the profile, the wheel diameter in inches, then the load and speed ratings. Read it off any tyre on the car, or send us a photo on WhatsApp and we will work it out.
Not in a live lane or on the hard shoulder of a motorway. That is genuinely dangerous and it is a job for National Highways and the emergency services. Get out of the vehicle, behind the barrier, and ring 999 or National Highways on 0300 123 5000. Once you have been recovered to a services or a safe slip road, we will come to you there.
Very common, and not a disaster. We carry extraction tools that grip and remove locking nuts without the key. It takes longer than a standard wheel change and occasionally the nut is sacrificed in the process, so we will always tell you the cost before starting.
No. If you have already got a tyre, or you would rather order your own, we will fit it. We can only warranty our labour in that case rather than the tyre itself.
It is safe to get you home or to somewhere we can meet you, but it is a temporary fitment, typically limited to 50mph and a short distance, and it changes the car handling and braking balance. Check the sticker on the wheel itself.
